Recently, a researcher wrote on the value of free interlibrary loan (ILL) service in the US compared to the fees being charged at UK libraries for ILL materials. ILL at Galvin Library is provided free to our faculty, staff and students. If you’re intrigued by the following quote, read the rest of the article in the Chronicle of Higher Education. “For the most part, libraries silently eat the cost. The significance of that sacrifice goes largely unnoticed. It isn’t the sexiest line on a library budget. But there is something profoundly democratic, surprisingly compassionate, and deeply civic in sharing our national resources in this manner.”
