Opening reception and lecture:
Thursday, January 22: 4:30 – 7 pm

The exhibit György Kepes: Languages of Vision opens Thursday, January 15 in the Kemper Room on the upper level of Galvin Library. Sponsored by art@iit, this show continues the fascinating series of scientifically-themed art exhibits that have attracted attention all over the city.

From art@iit: “As an artist, teacher, and writer, throughout his long and prolific career György Kepes worked successfully to establish new connections between the communities of art, science, technology and industry. His efforts addressed design education, the scientific technologies of image-making as well as the societal and environmental implications of technology and media. Today he is deservedly recognized as a true pioneer in new media practices. “Languages of Vision” brings together a representative selection of the various phases of the artist’s career from 1936 to 1987, courtesy of the Kepes Visual Center in Eger, Hungary.”

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm in the Kemper Room on Thursday, January 22. The exhibit runs through February 27, and is open any time the library is open (library hours). For more on this and other exhibits, see the art@iit site.
