Registration is required to use SciFinder Web, even if you are already using the software-based version. The software version will be phased out by the end of the semester. If you’ve never used SciFinder, try it! For registration information, contact with “SciFinder Registration” in the subject line. SciFinder Scholar access is limited to current IIT faculty, staff, and students only.

New! Remote Printing & Mathematica in Galvin

September 1, 2010 at 7:02 pm | Posted in services, technology | Comments Off on New! Remote Printing & Mathematica in Galvin

Galvin Library now has a remote printing release station! Remote printing gives you the freedom to print from your own laptop. Simply download and install the remote printing software that is found in MyIIT in the Training and Support tab. There are two remote printers located in the Group Study Suite on the lower level. One printer supports black and white printing and the other printer is a color printer. You can select the printer you need when you send your document(s) to the remote printing station.

More good news: Mathematica is now available on Galvin Library computers. OTS describes the software as “ideal for use in engineering, mathematics, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, and a wide range of other fields, it makes possible a new level of automation in algorithmic computation, interactive manipulation, and dynamic presentation—as well as a whole new way of interacting with the world of data.” Check out the tutorial about using Mathematica here. Mathematica also has a Learning Center that addresses several common uses for the software. See the Training and Support tab in MyIIT for more information on using Mathematica.
