uncle samWe are taking part in the LibQual survey this spring Semester.  More than 1000 libraries around the world have taken the survey offered by the Association of Research Libraries, and now we are asking the Illinois Tech community to participate too.  By taking the survey, you will give the library useful feedback we can apply to our services, collections, and space–now and in the years to come.  The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Access the Survey

You will have an opportunity to win one of four (4) $25 Amazon gift certificates.  Enter your Illinois Institute of Technology email address at the end of the survey to be included in the drawing.

The survey is available for all students, faculty and staff.  Responses are confidential; any identifying information will be removed.  Are you a survey geek and what to know more about the methodology used for LibQual?

As always if you have any questions, contact us through email, IM, phone or stop by the Research Help Office on the upper level.

Public Safety Escort – Location Change for Spring Break

March 13, 2015 at 2:50 pm | Posted in hours, services | Comments Off on Public Safety Escort – Location Change for Spring Break

IITalert_640x170During Spring Break, March 15-March 22, Galvin Library is not open 24 hours, but Public Safety will still be offering its escort service. However, the van driver will offer rides to students who are at Farr Hall (33rd and Michigan) for pickup.

Please make sure you are familiar with the NEW Public Safety Escort Policy. Under the new policy off-campus security van escorts start from a central pick-up point and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. During Spring Break instead of the usual pick-up locations, the van will leave Farr Hall (33rd and Michigan) at regular intervals from 7 p.m.–3 a.m. On-campus escorts to dorms and parking lots can call 312.808.6310.

Galvin Library will observe spring break with a reduction in its overnight, 24 hour schedule. Sunday, March 15 the library closes at 10pm. Sunday March 22 the library opens at noon and starts the 24 hour cycle again. Here are spring break hours:

Sunday 12 Noon-10pm (March 15th)
Monday-Thursday 7:30am-10pm
Friday 7:30am-7:00pm
Saturday 8:30am-5:00pm
Sunday (March 22nd) 12 Noon – Friday 7:00pm (open 24 hours x 5 days once again!)

No matter how you spend your spring break – studying, sleeping or relaxing – we are here to help. Our services will still be available, so you can schedule a research consultation for you or your group with a librarian, you can design or download a 3D model and print it in our Exploration Space on one of our TWO 3D printers, and you can come by and borrow a book, study in quiet or just work ahead for IPRO and finals projects.

You will still need your IIT ID to enter between 6:00-10:00 pm. Enjoy your classroom break!
